Do you do a ton of ab work but find that you still can’t get that nice toned stomach you’re looking for? The problem may not be in the number of style of exercises you’re doing… it could be that some critical core muscles aren’t firing.
In this week’s installation of Fitness Fridays, Laura Coleman of Just Muscles reveals a technique for turning on some vitally important core muscles that will help you stay stabilized, strong, and will enhance any other core work you do.
Laura taught me this technique a while ago and I love it. When our daughter was an infant and I would walk for hours, this technique would come in really handy. You’ll see what I mean when you watch the video!
Laura Coleman rocked my world a few years back when she helped me get to the root of all the knee and lower-back issues I’d had since my teens. In just a couple of sessions, Laura put me on a simple program of rehab exercises (unlike any I’d ever seen before) that brought my body back into alignment and actually fixed the problem that no physiotherapist, massage therapist, or chiropractor had ever been able to solve. I was hooked! We’ve been terrific friends and shared many clients since, and I’m delighted that she has offered to share her wisdom with all of you via this Fitness Friday video series. Laura lives in Portland, OR with her two gorgeous daughters. She works her magic at Club Sport and with clients all over the continent via the magic of technology (aka Skype). Check out her blog and website here.
I am currently in MAT physical therapy for my whole back a neck, and my program includes, among other things, walking for 30 minutes twice a day. I experience low back pain during these walks, especially during my morning walk when I am most stiff and sore. It hasn’t lessened for the duration of my therapy until now. For almost a week I’ve been doing this breathing exercise, and my low back pain has significantly decreased. Thank you, Laura Coleman, and to Eat Naked for featuring this wellness series. The tips have all been helpful additions to my therapy.
Savannah, I am so thrilled to hear it! Laura’s solutions are always creative and effective. She never ceases to amaze me with her tips!!
