It’s berry season!!! I do love all the seasons, but I’ve got to confess, this is my favorite of all of them. I am a complete sucker for berries.
When we lived in California where berries are ubiquitous year round, even at the farmers markets, it was easy to forget that they do indeed have a “season.” Now that we’ve moved to Portland, OR, we save our berry consumption for the summers when they’re fresh and local, and oh my! What a treat!!
This installment of KiDs Can Cook was inspired by a recent trip to a local you-pick berry farm. We love our berries with just a touch of homemade whipped cream, which Sia demonstrates how to make all on her own!
Note: you’ll notice in the video the only ingredient we use is heavy cream. We sometimes add a touch of vanilla extract, but often don’t even add that. We get all the sweetness we need from the berries – the cream just adds a lovely finishing touch. If you find you need a little something sweeter, try adding 1 tsp of vanilla extract before adding sugar. Often that’s all you’ll need. If it’s still not sweet enough, add in 1-2 Tbsps of maple syrup.
Enjoy!
No bias needed! Your right. That was super cute!! Now I am hungry for berries and whip cream :).
“Okay, the show’s over!”
Haha! Love it!
I just watched this my family, and we were cracking up the whole time! Miss Sia “Berry” is the cutest (except, of course, for Miss Sasha “Berry”!).
