Most protein bars are simply glorified, expensive candy bars. They’re high in sugar, hard to digest and over-all not very good for you.

Yet, when you’re in need of a quick, portable snack, these “health” bars really do come in handy. Fortunately for us, there are a few, newer bars on the market that actually walk their talk in terms of being healthy and filling. One of my favorites is Dave Asprey’s Bulletproof Collagen Protein bar. These filling bars have clean ingredients and good taste.

But they’re quite expensive.

So, I decided to put my chef coat on, step into the Eat Naked Kitchen and come up with my version of a quick and delicious collagen protein snack.

WARNING! Just because this is a “healthy” snack you may get hooked on it. You want to be cautious about overeating nuts. This recipe is 1/4 cup or 1 serving which is the max amount of nuts you want to eat in a day.

Get creative with the flavors and just know that you may never buy a protein bar again. Yep, this is that good.

Oh, and it’s great for kids too! Use this boosted butter instead of your typical one in their Nut butter and jelly sandwiches. Enjoy!

Note: For the cashew butter, I like Trader Joe’s version. It’s got the best flavor due to it having a little mix of almond butter too. That’s said, you can get any brand you want. You can even sub in other nut or seed butters. This recipe is pretty versatile.
